A Year in Recipes

Nov 26, 2021

Hello December! As the year comes to an end, we like to reminisce by rediscovering our favourite purple berry recipes! As we slow down for the festive season, it gives us the time to try that recipe we’ve had our eye on or discover a new firm favourite.

From crisp, refreshing sorbet to hearty, wholesome focaccia, there is something for everyone!

January – Blackcurrant and Thyme Sorbet

Nothing says a fresh new year like an ultra-refreshing sorbet! This is a great dessert to make at home with only five ingredients, and it’s delicious too. With the sharp blackcurrants and balance of sweet and savoury, our Blackcurrant and Thyme Sorbet is a sophisticated treat, the perfect way to end any meal.

February – Chocolate and Blackcurrant Truffles

What better way to say ‘I love you’ than with a rich, smooth chocolate truffle. With the added sharpness of the blackcurrants, these truffles are the ultimate sweet treat. We may have written the recipe for Valentine’s Day, but we never say no to these!

March – Apple and Blackcurrant Jam

Blackcurrant jam brings back memories of our childhoods. There really is nothing like it. Enjoy it with scones, or simply spread it on hot buttered toast. Either way, you won’t regret it… Packed with antioxidants and vitamin C, it’s a great and tasty way to start the day.

April – Blackcurrant Smoothie Shake

As we catch those first glimpses of spring, there’s nothing better than enjoying a refreshing blackcurrant smoothie. Easy to make and delicious to drink, this smoothie is packed with vitamins and minerals your body needs to stay healthy and keep your immune system strong!

May – Vegan Blackcurrant Energy Bars

Our energy bars are the perfect on-the-go snack or even a great breakfast option. Start your day energised with this scrumptious pick-me-up snack. Brimming with essential vitamins, nutrients and juicy blackcurrants to keep you focused throughout the day!

June – Berry and Blackcurrant Pavlova

Our Blackcurrant Pavlova is a stack of pure deliciousness. Meringue that is crispy and crunchy on the outside, yet soft and marshmallow-like on the inside, topped with lashings of light and fluffy whipped cream and drowning in juicy blackcurrants… heavenly!

July – Vegan Blackcurrant Chia Seed Pudding

Creamy, flavourful and packed with protein and fibre, this Vegan Blackcurrant Chia Seed Pudding is ideal for those looking for a healthy breakfast or pudding alternative! Satisfy your sweet tooth whilst taking care of your health too! Now, doesn’t that sound good!

August – Lime and Blackcurrant Cheesecake

Cheesecake is one of our favourite puddings, especially when it includes our favourite purple berries! Enjoy a citrus tang from the lime with the sweet yet sharp blackcurrants! The vibrant berry colour swirled throughout make this pudding the most delightful summer showstopper.

September – Blackcurrant Vinaigrette

Mix up your autumn lunches. A perfect combination of sweet and sour, our delicious blackcurrant vinaigrette will transform your salads with a fruity zing. Pair with a warm winter roasted vegetable salad for a touch of freshness.

October – Steak Sandwich with Blackcurrant & Cashew Nut Bloomer

The sandwich you’d want in your lunchbox every time! It looks delicious and tastes even better; with the rich, smooth cashews and sweet yet sharp blackcurrants, this bloomer is the ultimate winter indulgence. As we move through the year, you can experiment with the different fruits in season – but for us, nothing can beat the blackcurrant!

November – Blackcurrant Brownies

Gorgeously gooey, rich and bursting with sweet and juicy blackcurrants, our Blackcurrant Brownies make the most delicious dessert. Scrumptious enough to enjoy by themselves, but for those looking for a little extra indulgence, why not add a scoop of velvety blackcurrant ice cream or fresh and fruity sorbet?

December – Garlic and Rosemary Focaccia with Blackcurrant Balsamic Glaze

Our Garlic & Rosemary Focaccia with Blackcurrant Balsamic Glaze is just the right amount of both sweet and savoury; salty, soaked in olive oil and topped with a juicy blackcurrant drizzle. It’s great to tear and share, although you might not want to once you take that first bite. Mmmmmm!
