Meet Tom Maynard, a second-generation blackcurrant Meet Tom Maynard, a second-generation blackcurrant grower based on the Kent/Sussex border. 👋Tom's father, David, signed up for a Ribena contract in the 1950s, and his family has been growing blackcurrants ever since - meaning Tom has been growing blackcurrants his whole life! He earnt his first pennies on the farm handpicking blackcurrants, driving the harvester as a student, and we're pleased that he's still at it 50 years later.Tom harvests 180 tonnes of blackcurrants a year, 98% of which goes to Ribena, with a few tonnes going direct to the public. Tom is also proud to grow plums, damsons, apricots, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, redcurrants and more - what a fruity mix!
Have you seen Ribena's NEW and improved 500ml bott Have you seen Ribena's NEW and improved 500ml bottle yet? This sustainable format is made from 100% recycled plastic and is 100% bottle-to-bottle recyclable! ♻️The incredible change means Ribena has become the UK's largest soft drinks brand to manufacture bottles like this. With the addition of making their bottle sleeve smaller, the two-year project has ensured that they now save over 200 tonnes of plastic per year.We love this snowy snap from one of our growers, Julie Husband, who enjoyed a fruity refreshment whilst out in the blackcurrant fields in Scotland.Let us know what you think of this new and improved Ribena bottle in the comments below!👇
Wildflowers are not only beautiful, they also have Wildflowers are not only beautiful, they also have some great environmental benefits too! 🐝We plant a mix of wildflowers to enhance non-cropped areas around our blackcurrants. We use a carefully selected mix of flowers including Vetch, Campion and Phaceila. This unique mix supports our bee population as well as other essential beasties and natural predators which help bring us a rich and fruitful crop at harvest time! Why not try some wildflowers in your own garden? We recommend using a @seedbom to easily grow stunning wildflowers that invite beneficial bugs, bees and birds into your garden.
